Clarissa Net in a Nutshell
By Mathias Ball
Clarissa Net is simply a network consisting of K4/Clarissa users which are able to communicate to each other. Be noted, that the communication is not limited to K4/Clarissa users only, but the scope of communication is vastly extended if both are using K4/Clarissa.
K4/Clarissa includes several systems to communicate to others. We call such systems transports and they are based on known methods like Telegram (https://telegram.org), Matrix (https://matrix.org), XMPP (https://xmpp.org), E-mail. Why to reinvent the wheel if you can simply use available?
Additionally, we designed two further transports based on shared file systems and on P2P synchronization tool Syncthing (https://syncthing.net).
Besides of these integrated transports, that also allow for instance to talk to other’s cell phone, Clarissa Net currently realized the following 4 exclusive exchange methods:
Identity Exchange
In order to make known to each other as members of Clarissa Net you first have to exchange your identity with your contacts. You can imagine an identity like a passport which also enables you to talk to others with encryption and signature.
Data Exchange
All kinds of database objects (contacts, groups, tickets…) may be exchanged between Clarissa Net members. This can be done in both directions: Either you send an object to another or you demand to receive from another.
File Transfer
E-mail is very limited to exchange bigger data and nearly unable to exchange complete folders. Most transport systems also have size limitations for files which wants to be exchanged, and they also focus on single files only. K4/Clarissa file transfer solves this problem, and the user don’t need to break his head how the files will come to the other.
Remote Search
Different users collect different data. K4/Clarissa enables users not only to search own data but also data of other users too if they allow such an access. This will enhanced collaboration between K4/Clarissa users.
Note: The picture above shows one of our design sketches for remote search… Hand on your heart, you are still fastest and most creative with a pencil only ;-)
